Who we are
Often, when we think of "church," we think of a building.

But a church is actually the people that God has brought together in a place to learn, express, apply, and share together. The building is just a building.

The Vine Church began in WestOrange county (the communities of Windermere, Ocoee, Winter Garden, and Clermont) in the Spring of 2005, as a core group of families felt led to begin gathering for worship, study, and fellowship. We are not a part of any one denomination, but our families come from a spectrum of church experiences and backgrounds.

Here is a look at our church leadership:

* * *

Charles Cooper, Elder / Pastor

Having now served as a pastor for 20 years, Charles graduated from Ouachita Baptist University before receiving a Master of Theology degree from Dallas Theological Seminary. He taught homiletics and hermeneutics at Moody Bible Institute in Chicago for six years and served as a national speaker for Promise Keepers. For eight years he served as an instructor, biblical researcher, and education consultant for Sola Scriptura – an organization dedicated to affirming the authenticity, accuracy, and authority of the Bible – the standard for truth. Charles connects with his audience to communicate spiritual principles to church congregations and seminar audiences, and travels internationally to train pastors and local church workers in the Ukraine and Northern India. In addition to his active speaking schedule, Charles plays golf for lessons in humility. He seeks to delay Alzheimer's by reading widely and collecting antique cufflinks. Charles currently lives in Winter Garden, Florida with his wife, Sondra, and daughter Carrli.

Scott Holmgren, Elder / Pastor

Scott and his wife Annamarie live in Winter Garden, Florida with their four terrific kids: Jonathan, Jared, Jack, and Linnea. Originally from the Midwest, their home is a haven for Big Ten fans of all ages and long-suffering Cubs devotees. A graduate of Columbia College with a degree in film and screenwriting, Scott has served various Christian companies and ministries as a graphic designer, creative director, and communications director. He is currently the Creative Director for an industry leading destination club. And now Scott has followed God's special call to be instrumental in the leadership of The Vine by serving as an elder and teaching pastor. He and Annamarie desire to grow in their marriage and family as they walk with the families of The Vine. By the way, he tries to not be as serious as this picture looks.

Eddie Taubensee, Director of Evangelism

Eddie had an 11 year Major League Baseball career catching for the Houston Astros, Cincinnati Reds, and Cleveland Indians. He has travelled the world sharing the gospel in Thailand, South Africa, Japan, Dominican Republic, Australia, Italy, Saudi Arabia and Germany. Eddie and His wife René are the Pro Athletes Outreach, Ambassadors to Major League Baseball and are the directors of the annual Baseball  Conference. At The Vine you can also find him teaching Basic Training to the K-4th grade students or helping out in the nursery when needed. If you get here early enough he may even explain the MLB stadium being used as a template for that day's seating arrangement. Eddie also enjoys being a little league coach and full time father to his 3 boys.

Aurelien Mansier, Director of Music/Worship

Prior to becoming worship leader at The Vine, Aurelien was a founding member of the church plant, Avalon Presbyterian Church, where he played an integral role as a guitarist and vocalist in the worship band. He feels closest to God when he is singing and playing, and he desires to create this experience for The Vine church family. Aurelien has extensive experience as a musician and performer. He began playing guitar as a teenager and continued playing throughout high school and college, where he started his own band. He holds a Bachelor of Design in Architecture and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Florida. His hobbies include writing and recording music, designing websites, and watching Gator football. Aurelien is married to his high school sweetheart Ann, and they have two beautiful girls, Maia and Ellie.
