Just before He left his disciples, Jesus
charged them with these
words… "Go
therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them
in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching
them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with
you always, even to the end of the age." (Matthew
28:19-20)
Right there at the beginning of what's called
"The Great Commission" is one little word, a direct exhortation
by Jesus Himself, telling the church that we should Go.
At The Vine we don't believe that Sunday
lasts 24 hours.
As part of the worldwide body of Christ,
we're "on-call" each and every day… 24, 7, 365… so to speak. And
the application of all that we learn and express is a lifelong
process.
It's easy to live the Christian life like
a trivia game: learning answers and definitions, getting little
pieces of pie to put in our game token as we move around the board.
But how does playing that game advance God's
Kingdom here on earth?
How does playing that game conform a person
more and more into the image of Christ?
It doesn't. Only by "go"-ing
and applying yourself do those things happen.
The Vine Church accepts the challenge Jesus
gave. We will apply… so that people may be transformed.
